The 1995 Alumni Directory

The School made arrangements with Harris Publishing Company circa 1994, to publish an Alumni Directory. They shared with Harris all of the names and best/last-known addresses, and Harris did some research and made many updates prior to publishing the volume in hard copy entitled "Downey High School Alumni Dorectory - 1995". It sold for somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 to $70 and is no longer available for purchase.
   - The names section attempted to list ALL graduates from 1910 through 1994 under their respective class years (whether or not any details were available) with notations as to their being deceased or not found.
   - The general information section attempted to list the addresses and other data for those for whom the information was considered reliable.

There were a lot of alumni who were disappointed in the completeness and correctness of the book. It missed many alumni and listed some with ancient data, with incorrect years, with incorrect spellings, etc.

Out of my class (1953) of about 300, it only showed info for 57, and some of those had already been deceased for many years. Fortunately, thru the efforts of our class, we have now developed addresses for over 200 and had 100 attend our 50-th reunion in 2003.

Personally, I have lived in Downey continuously since 1943 and was listed a "Lost"; it seems that the address which the School gave them as a starting point was the one from which I moved away during 8-th Grade -- in 1949.

There is a NEW Book planned containing entries up thru the class of 2004. It should be dated and ready in 2005.
