ON PC Files

About Picture files, Sequencing for Display, RE-Naming --

PLEASE CONSIDER PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES ON COPIES OF YOUR ORIGINAL FOLDERS UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS --- AS REVERSING THEM IS NOT EASY.
Annotating your pictures ---
.- Open the target folder of pictures with Windows Explorer
.- Right click on any picture file (well almost any)
.- Select Properties|Summary
.- Type whatever you'd like into the fields shown;
      the data will be kept in the picture file in the "EXIF" space;
      the file's date/time-stamp will NOT be changed.
    CAUTION: Future editing or manipulation by other programs may wipe these out.

Ordering your pictures ---
.- Open the target folder of pictures with Windows Explorer
.- Select View|Thumbnail; you will see a thumbnail of all of the pictures
.- Select Picture-Tasks|View-As-A-Slide-Show;
          you will see a rotating show; if you'd like to change the order, then
.- Select View|Thumbnail
.- Select any thumbnail
.- Hold the left mouse button
.- Move it to another position;
        you may now run the slide show in the new/preferred order.
     CAUTION: Changing the View or exiting the Folder will lose the re-ordering.
              See below for renaming to maintain the order.

Renaming of files (possibly to maintain the order) ---
.- Open the target folder with Windows Explorer (if not already open from above)
.- Press Ctrl+A to select all of the files
        (or select any subset by selecting with Ctrl or Shift)
.- Press the F2 key
      the cursor will move to one of the files' name space, as for Renaming
.- Type over the name with something like " TOY (33) " (withOUT the quotes)
.- Press Enter; the files will be renamed as ...
      " TOY (33) "
      " TOY (34) "
      " TOY (35) "
      " TOY (36) " etc. etc.; the extension (if any) will be unchanged

If you do the rename WHILE the picture thumbnails are re-ordered,
  then the next time that the folder is opened, the re-ordering will be maintained.
If you do not like the imbedded blank and the parentheses,
  then you might consider subsequent use of other rename programs, e.g.,
   the "Better File Re-Name" program as at ...
    http://www.publicspace.net/windows/BetterFileRename/
   or see at ..
